Senior Scientific Laboratory Technician

Main Responsibilties

The senior lab technician will be responsible for aiding the smooth running of lab work, including client work and internal R&D work. Broadly this will cover: 

  • Running routine screening assays and experiments on the automated platform to help deliver projects

  • Perform QC checks and provide training to others

  • Help with manual lab processes including cell culture and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Manage inventory, equipment maintenance and calibration 


Training for the automation platform and experimental procedures will be given, but a strong background and experience in running manual experiments is desirable. 


As a small company, every opinion matters - the ideal candidate will be motivated to identify weaknesses or holes within any area they work in and actively help improve them. 

Qualifications and Experience
  • Applicants will have a M.Sc/ B.Sc/ or relevant apprenticeship qualification

  • Experience in mammalian cell culture techniques

  • Experience in carrying out scientific procedures manually (for example this could include: microscopy, flow cytometry, SDS-PAGE/ Western Blotting or other cell-based assays). Experience in all of these is not required and training will be provided, but a background in two or more basic techniques would be useful.

  • Excellent communication skills and a team player

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Good time management

  • Problem solving skills

  • Experience as a technician or research assistant is desirable

  • A background in a cellular biology background is also on our wish list
